Sarah Frances Wyant
Passed away on May 15, 2024
Sarah Frances Wyant concluded her richly lived 96 years on May 15 2024, surrounded by her children. Born in Valdosta and raised in Ocilla alongside her mother, Beulah, and brothers, Benjamin and Gene Stalvey, Sarah's life was one marked by love and service. She was a devoted wife to Joseph Wyant, Sr., with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2012.
Sarah was the cherished mother of Deborah Dorsey, Catherine Renner, Isabel Trono, and Joseph Wyant, Jr. Her family was her pride, her joy, and the center of a life filled with warmth. Known for her vibrant smile and infectious laughter, Sarah had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people and animals alike; she never met a stranger. Her conversations—whether with a new acquaintance at the store or a furry friend along the path—were filled with genuine interest and warmth, making even a simple errand a delightful adventure in camaraderie and laughter.
Sarah and Joseph, Sr.'s initial encounter occurred during a shared journey to St. Simons, accompanied by a mutual friend. By journey's end, they had vowed to reunite in Atlanta. Their eventual marriage was solemnized at St. Thomas Church in Decatur. Together, they nurtured a family and a home, transitioning from Sandy Springs to Rochester, NY, where Sarah devoted her energies to local charities and a favorite nursing home. In 1988, they retired to Savannah, embedding themselves within the close-knit community of The Landings. Here, Sarah was instrumental in establishing the local library and remained an engaged member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church on the Isle of Hope.
In every chapter of her life, Sarah exemplified a spirit of giving, a commitment to her community, and an unwavering love for her family and all living beings, creating lasting memories with everyone she met. Her legacy is carried forward in the lives of those she touched, a testament to a life well and truly lived.

Mrs. Wyant was my second mom while growing up in Rochester. I had the good fortune of living just two doors down from the Wyant family. Wow, did I luck out! The Wyant family was so generous to me and Mrs. Wyant created a joyous and loving home. I have so many great memories of spending time with Joe Jr. and his parents. Did I mention the southern fried chicken that Mrs. Wyant made? I still have never had such good fried chicken! Thank you Mrs. Wyant for helping make my childhood years on Trevor Court so wonderful.

One of my fondest memories was when everyone left to go shopping- unsure on why I remained at the landings with Oma, but I did. We played a variety of card games, but one in particular called “War” for like 3 hours straight and boy were we at war with each other in the end haha - love and miss you grandma Sarah
